THE CURRENT AND FUTURE STATE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY IN WEALTH MANAGEMENT (28th October 2020)

THE CURRENT AND FUTURE STATE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY IN WEALTH MANAGEMENT (28th October 2020)

A FUTURE OF FINANCE WEBINAR WITH WEALTH MANAGERS, SECTOR EXPERTS AND TECHNOLOGISTS

Wednesday 28th October 2020 2.00-3.00 pm UK time

The wealth management industry is attracting the interest of outside investors, including private equity funds. This is not surprising. Its growth is underpinned by secular trends, including the switch from defined benefit to defined contribution pension plans and the looming transfer of wealth from the Baby Boomers to the millennials. Wealth management clients are stickier, they pay fatter margins and they offer ample room for growth. For technology vendors, wealth management systems and infrastructure are rich in opportunities to improve core operating platforms. But with wealth managers also looking to transform what they deliver to clients in terms of products and service experience, there is plenty of scope for digital innovation at the front end as well as the back. While traditional wealth managers have retained their dominant position so far, they face disruption not only from digital start-ups but from Big Tech as well. This Future of Finance panel will examine where the threats and opportunities lie and what the wealth management industry might look like by 2025.

Topics of discussion will include:

– The key challenges in fixing core operational platforms
– The impact of technology so far on client prospecting, on-boarding, management and reporting
– The potentiality of federated identity
– The opportunity and threat in Open Banking and Open Data
– The opportunities in digital assets
– Technologies to improve the quality and experience of investment advice
– Products and services for the mass affluent
– The current state and future prospects of robo-advice
– The challenges and benefits of cross-selling insurance and tax advice
– The barriers to offering a holistic financial health service
– The impact of the Pandemic in accelerating or decelerating change
– How traditional wealth managers and FinTechs can best work together
– The future: which wealth management models are likely to survive and which are likely to fail
